Yes, it can run Vista, I am just not sure if your video card has support for the Windows Device Driver Model, (although the minimum requirements to get Glass is a 64-MB video card, if it is supported, your experience might not be so good. You need to check ATI to find that out. Overall, its a nice system for Vista, you might want to up the RAM and acquire a new video card. I notice when I had up to 20 windows open on my nVidia Geforce FX 5200 128 MB AGP, it got a bit groggy and non responsive at times.

That is not a laptop it is a desktop. It should run Vista fine as others have already suggested.
Depending on the features wanted, memory and video card may need updating. But Vista should run fine without the upgrades depending on the uses of the OP.

In order to run Windows Vista 64 Bit Edition: You will need to have a 600 Series or Newer Intel Pentium 4 Processor (because the 500 Series Processor's don't have EM64T), however you should be able to run Windows Vista 32 Bit Edition just fine with a 500 Series Intel Pentium 4 Processor.

I said that because I know you've got a 64MB card as you've previously said and can't get Glass... however..
(although the minimum requirements to get Glass is a 64-MB video card, if it is supported, your experience might not be so good. You need to check ATI to find that out.
Yeh I see what you mean in that - you posted that some time ago, but I stand corrected. 128MB card would be better though!

Will it be able to run windows media center edition with aero glass or will i need to get a new video card right away. I'd rather wait for the new video cards that can do 2 way digital cable to come out first.
P.S. I am referring to the Intel Pentium 4 Processor Series Number, just FYI.

My world of reality includes a computer significantly slower than that. Two recent builds of Vista works very well for me on an AMD 2400. I have upgraded my memory and video card to suit my needs. One of the programs I have very successfully used on that computer is FS 2004.
I have no need to try to imagine, since I can see the reality.

Thats because its onboard memory (integrated graphics chipset), to support Aero Glass with onboard memory, you would have to have 1 GB of dual channel memory, with 512 allocated to the system and the rest to the video card. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

The minimum requirements does not state that 64-MBs of vRAM is not supported. It said that the display adapter on a PC must support Direct X 9 with Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware, 32 bits per pixel and Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) support. Depending on your desktop resolution, Windows Vista Aero will set the appropriate resolution according to what your card supports.
64 MB of graphics memory to suppor a single monitor at resolution of 1,310,720 pixeks (equivalent to 1280 x 1024) or less. The only drawback for Michael possibly is performance, that is even if his card supports WDDM. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

The current build I have not installed hardly anything. The last build had many including Office 2003, FS 2004, CFS3, Nero 6, AVG and others. All of them worked flawlessly.
Looking at the installed programs does not really say much, how the program performs says a lot, actual performance suggests my computer functions well.
If you are having problems even after reinstalling, you possibly have a hardware issue. Possibly dissimilar memory sticks etc.

5308 is what I was referring to when I said "last build". MS Train Simulator works well on the current Build 5342.
Check for Vista drivers etc. As I said before, incompatible memory can be problematic. Do not assume if it worked in a previous OS it will work OK in Vista.

I'm talking to ati now trying to see if they are going to come out with a driver for vista for the 9000. I seriously doubt it though since they no longer support it. Would I be better off getting a new card now or waiting for a digital cable ready card and how much will a digital cable ready card cost when it comes out? Are there any sites that show what one of the digital cable ready cards looks like? thanks
I am using a 256 MB DDR VRAM NVIDIA GeForce 6800, which works just fine with Windows Vista Build 5308 CTP, which you can probably buy at a lower price right now (from an OEM Reseller like Newegg.com, for example), considering the fact that it is no longer the Newest Product that NVIDIA has on the market anymore (GeForce 7XXX Series is now their newest product on the market).
